President at Paragon Health Institute
Brian Blase, Ph.D., is the President of Paragon Health Institute. Brian was Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy at the White House’s National Economic Council (NEC) from 2017-2019, where he coordinated the development and execution of numerous health policies and advised the President, NEC director, and senior officials. Thirty-five health policy experts submitted a letter to Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Charles Rettig explaining why a proposed IRS rule should not be finalized. The rule is the Biden Administration’s proposed “fix” for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) family glitch, and would unlawfully expand the number of Americans eligible for subsidies under the ACA. See the complete letter here:

The letter’s signatories include Al Hubbard, the former director of the National Economic Council; Tomas Philipson, the former chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers; Diane Black, the former chairman of the U.S. House Budget Committee; Tom Barker, former acting general counsel at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS); Joe Grogan, the former Health Program Associate Director at the Office of Management and Budget; and Paul Mango, the former Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy at HHS.
