
AI & Digital Operations Specialist
The AI & Digital Operations Specialist will join Paragon’s operations team and help the organization use emerging technologies to improve how we conduct research, communicate our work, and operate internally. The specialist will experiment with and implement artificial intelligence, automation, data, and digital tools across Paragon’s research and communications workflows. This role has a competitive starting salary commensurate with experience. This position will be executed from Paragon’s headquarters in Arlington, VA, with flexibility to work from home on Fridays.
The specialist will identify, test, and implement artificial intelligence, automation, data, and digital tools across Paragon’s research, communications, and operational workflows. This position is well suited for someone who is intellectually curious, technically capable, highly detail-oriented, and excited to experiment with new tools and solve practical problems.
The role will also provide opportunities to broaden the candidate’s knowledge of health policy and the policymaking process while making meaningful contributions to Paragon’s mission of improving health policy for patients and taxpayers.

Responsibilities
AI & Automation
Identify, test, and implement AI agents and automated workflows that improve research, communications, and internal operations.
Evaluate emerging AI tools and technologies for accuracy, reliability, security, and usefulness to Paragon’s work.
Monitor developments in artificial intelligence through technical documentation, academic research, industry publications, white papers, and other authoritative sources.
Develop AI-assisted tools and workflows that help ensure consistency with Paragon’s visual and editorial brand standards.
Document AI and automation workflows so that processes can be maintained, improved, and replicated across the organization.
Data & Knowledge Management
Build and maintain structured repositories of Paragon research, data, charts, citations, and frequently referenced findings to make institutional knowledge easier to retrieve and reuse.
Develop and maintain internal databases and information systems used for research generation, communications, and operations.
Improve internal file management and knowledge-management systems.
Track Paragon research products, communications outputs, and performance metrics.
Standardize data collection, organization, and storage processes across research and communications workflows.
Identify opportunities to improve the accessibility, consistency, and usefulness of Paragon’s internal data.
Data Visualization & Digital Communications
Create and animate data visualizations for Paragon research and communications using tools such as Microsoft Excel, R, JavaScript, and Adobe After Effects.
Develop reusable templates, documentation, and automated workflows to make chart creation and animation faster and more consistent.
Work with research and communications staff to translate complex data and policy findings into clear and compelling visual products.
Experiment with AI-assisted tools for visual design, image generation, and communications production.
Web & Digital Operations
Support Paragon’s digital presence through website publishing, content management, search engine optimization, and related digital tools.
Assist with creating, formatting, and publishing content on Paragon’s website.
Help maintain and improve digital workflows involving customer relationship management, website, communications, and other organizational systems.
Identify opportunities to connect systems and automate repetitive digital and operational tasks.
Qualifications
Required
Strong written, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Intellectual curiosity and an ability to independently learn new technologies, troubleshoot problems, and identify opportunities for automation.
Ability to explain technical concepts and tools clearly to nontechnical colleagues.
Interest in applying emerging technologies to real-world research, communications, and operational challenges.
Passion for contributing to Paragon’s mission and work.
Preferred
Familiarity with generative AI and experience using one or more AI tools or large language models.
Experience with one or more digital or technical tools, such as:
Customer relationship management platforms such as Salesforce
Large language models such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini
AI image-generation tools
Microsoft Excel
R
JavaScript
Adobe Creative Cloud
Website content-management systems
At least one year of relevant professional, academic, internship, or project experience involving data analysis, technology, automation, digital communications, or a related field.
Experience working with data, databases, APIs, automation platforms, or structured information systems.
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant fields may include computer science, engineering, data science, statistics, design or interactive media, creative arts, film, or a related discipline. Equivalent relevant experience is also welcome.
This role does not require prior experience developing machine-learning models. We are looking for someone who can quickly learn, evaluate, and creatively apply emerging technologies to practical organizational problems.
Salary
The salary range for this role is $60,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience.
